Event Horizon is an audiovisual project inspired by Jean-Pierre Luminet's 1978 black hole simulation image. Luminet used punch cards and an IBM computer to calculate how light bends around a black hole, then rendered the result by hand, dot by dot, in black ink. Event Horizon brings that process into p5.js, tracing light around a dark gravitational shadow and building each black hole point by point from code.
Additionally, every piece is inscribed on block 9 sats. Each piece also carries a built-in menu with an export controller for saving high-resolution stills, a sound on/off switch, and a screen-fill/square switch for the viewport.
Every piece is also assigned one of six generative soundtracks by its seed, each layered from a single synth.
